Triage (Advice Nurse) The telephone advice nurse is available Monday through Friday, 9AM to 5PM, to assist patients with questions regarding their specific or general healthcare concerns. The triage nurse has a variety of skills including but not limited to clinical experience, good listening ability, and capacity to function independently and handle stressful or emergency situations. Telephone triage nurses may assist a patient in determining if an office visit is necessary, help you communicate with your medical provider, clarify questions about medications and lab results, offer advice to patients (per a medical protocol) as well as handle many other patient concerns. Plans are underway to increase the number of staff providing triage services. Look for future phone extensions for:
